Approaching the Last Stop

Well that was certainly a thing that happened. The secret Santa exchange was probably the highlight of the weekend, but hot pot overall was a blast as always. After finally waking up having not found a bed until 11am this morning, here I am to give you the details for the upcoming week.

  • Monday Meeting – Monday, November 28, 6PM, MC 4063. Planning for next term and general term wrap-up are on the agenda for this week. Come hang out with potential for an activity and dinner after.
  • Project Night – Wednesday, November 30, 6PM, SLC 2109. Needs no introduction. Just come hang out.
  • CTRL-D – Friday, December 2, 5:30PM, Kyle’s place. Read up on this thread for all the details, but the gist of it is eating and drinking while playing games and watching anime, with a propensity towards alcoholic beverages.
  • Games Night – Friday, December 2, 4:30PM, ML 354. Games! Not sure how many people will be here, because the previous event is going on the same night, but we have the room booked. Come on by and play some games!

Next week, one last…

  • Monday Meeting – Monday, December 5, 6PM, MC 4063. This is the final meeting for the term, so expect most of the current term business to be wrapped up. This is the last official event for the term.

And to make sure you aren’t lonely over the break, one last special event:

  • CLAMP Show - Saturday, December 17, 12PM to 10PM, SLC 2109. A special themed anime show for all things CLAMP. Details on what we’re planning to show can be found here.

That’s it. After peaking with last weekend’s EOT events, we begin our descent towards exam period, which means CTRL-A takes a break until January. But don’t fret. We’ll be back. We’ll always be back.

The end of the term is fast approaching, but we at CTRL-A aren’t prone to letting it end quietly. We have a great week planned for you guys. Feast your eyes on this:

  • Monday Meeting – Monday, November 21, 6PM, MC 4063. Of course, every week starts with our weekly meeting. We’ll be discussing hot pot and other important club business, followed by the potential for a potentially fun activity, and potential dinner. The possibility of dinner and no dinner exist in simultaneous superposition, and I can’t observe it so I have no way of actualizing it. Oh well.
  • Project Night – Wednesday, November 23, 6PM, SLC 2109. As if anyone doubted its occurrence, project night is happening this Wednesday as well. Come on out and get your project/social/gaming needs met.
  • Karaoke Night – Friday, November 25, 4:30PM, AL 105. One of our special EOT events, karaoke night is sure to get the cobwebs out of your vocal chords. Come sing anime-related music to a generally receptive audience this Friday. You can provide the songs yourself, or request them in advance in this thread so we can have them prepared for you. Your choice.
  • Hot Pot – Saturday, November 26, 4:30PM, Karl’s place.. The second of our regular end-of-term events is a dinner and gaming/anime marathon by the name of hot pot. These vary quite a bit term to term in regards to what we do and for how long, but it regularly goes to the very early morning. It’s a ton of fun. You get to eat delicious food and hang out with an awesome group of people. Don’t miss it! Directions to Karl’s place can be found here.

That’s all for this week. Have a blast!

What’s that? Over, you say? CTRL-A scoffs at your notion. The club that never quits has more events for you, so the fun isn’t over yet. Here’s the details for your week:

  • Monday Meeting: Monday, November 14, 6PM, MC 4063. We resume our regularly scheduled meetings. Talk of hot pot seems likely, and there’ll be a fun activity and dinner following, as usual. General fun times to be had.
  • Project Night: Wednesday, November 16, 6PM, SLC 2109. The neverending Project Night continues its streak this week. Come out for general socialization, work on a pending project or help others with theirs, and play some fun games.
  • Games Night: Friday, November 18, 4:30PM, ML 354. If you miss playing games over the show weekends, then we have the solution for you. Bring along your card, tabletop, or video games and have fun with like-minded individuals.

That’s it for this week. It’s a bit laid back, but we’re gearing up for some awesome end-of-term activities. Our once-a-term hot pot dinner is coming soon. The date is TBD, but the discussion thread can be found here. We also have another term tradition, karaoke night, coming next Friday, November 25. The forum thread for that is here.

That’s all for now. Enjoy.

Final Round, Fight!

Please don’t actually fight, that’s not the kind of image we want as a club. Use a fighting video game to vent your violent tendencies. Like Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. You can play as Phoenix Wright!

As for CTRL-A, we are in the midst of planning for our final show! It’s happening this weekend, more on that later. Here are all the relevant details for this week:

  • Monday Meeting – Monday, November 7, 6PM, MC 4063. To be honest, I’m not really sure what’s happening. But there might be an activity and dinner after, so it’s worth checking out for a fun CTRL-A social evening.
  • Project Night – Wednesday, November 9, 6PM, SLC 2109. Do I still need to write about these? They happen every week, and there’s not much new to say each week. Show up if you want to play some random games with people, or work on/assist with projects, or just hang out with some fun people who share similar interests.
  • Show 4 – Friday, November 11, 5PM to 10PM, AL 113 and Saturday, November 12, 2:30PM to 9PM, AL 116. Our exciting final anime show will be chock full of the awesome anime you all like. The scheduling details will be available here as soon as they are decided on. As usual, across two days, we’ll have our continuing series (including the popular Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood and Steins;Gate), two new sampler series, and a movie. We’ll be operating our concession stand, ordering pizza on the dinner breaks as well as running a fun activity while/after you eat. It’s a great time for everyone involved, so don’t miss it!
  • Weiss Schwarz Tournament – Saturday, November 12, 11AM, AL 208. At last, the finals have arrived. 16 combatants will face off for ultimate Weiss Schwarz glory. The structure for this one is different than before, as instead of randomly matched opponents, the tournament bracket has been posted and can be viewed here. The top three players walk away with prizes! Good luck to everyone involved, especially wartjr2373. I hope he wins. It’s probably too late to sign up now, but if you want to watch the action unfold, you know where to find us.

And that concludes another fun week in CTRL-A. If you’re the kind of person who really likes anime, then don’t miss out on all the fun times we can offer you. You’ll have a great time, I promise.
