Guess what? It’s Canada’s birthday! Everyone give a big round of applause for the young, too young 144-year-old.
With our shows now 75% complete, I hope everyone is enjoying their term so far. Before we ramp up for Show 4 and the end-of-term festivities, CTRL-A will be taking a bit of a break this long weekend, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing to do. Take a look:
- Monday Meeting - Monday, June 27, 6:00PM, Room MC 4063. We’ll be talking about the relative awesomeness of show 3 and looking forward to future events. If you want to talk about this and more, don’t miss our official club meeting.
- Project Night – Wednesday, June 29, 6:00PM, Room SLC 2109. Never tiring, Project Night continues ever onward. If you want to hang out with some cool people, play a few games, and work on any projects you may have lying around, come on down to project night.
Rather light indeed. But don’t get lethargic! We’re just getting started… Mwahahaha! Hahahahaha! Ha…
Ahem, er, that’s your week in CTRL-A. Here’s wishing everyone a great long weekend!

Jun 19 On track for Show 3!
News
Posted By: webmaster
I hope everyone had a good time at hotpot. We managed to finish the Subspace Emissary mode in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, rather unexpectedly as it took us until 5:30 AM! But here we are, all rested and ready for midterms, I mean, show 3. Yes, show 3.
Before that, a bit of news. The Chaos TCG tournament has been rescheduled, and will now be taking place on Saturday, July 16, the weekend of Show 4, not this weekend as previously stated. Sorry for the inconvenience. If you would still like to participate, you can sign up here.
With that out of the way, here’s what you can expect this week in CTRL-A:
- Monday Meeting – Monday, June 20, 6:00 PM, Room MC 4063. In addition to a quick recap of hot pot, we’ll be working out our plans for show 3 and possibly some future events as well. There will probably be dinner afterwards, so don’t miss it!
- Project Night – Wednesday, June 22, 6:00 PM, Room SLC 2109. Project night rears its head again midweek for your general entertainment. If you have projects you’ve been meaning to devote time to, or need a group of people to assist you, come visit us in the SLC. We also just play games sometimes, so feel free to stop by regardless.
- Show 3 – Friday, June 24, 4:30PM to 10:00PM and Saturday, June 25, 2:30PM to 9:00PM, Room EIT 1015. Wasting no time, our third show of the term is here to show you how we do. And we do anime, as if it were a surprise to anybody. Come watch anime with us this weekend, if that’s your thing. The show schedule can be found here. As is typical, we’ll be running our concession stand, and ordering pizza on the dinner break, for which all profits go to support the club. There will also be an activity during the dinner break on both days. So come on by and have a great time!
Also happening this week is an exclusive screening of Trigun: Badlands Rumble at Galaxy Cinemas Waterloo this Wednesday, June 22 at 7:00 PM. For more information, I put up a forum thread about it, which you can find here.
That’s your week. A pretty good one, if you ask me. Now I’m off to build a Gundam model, or watch anime, or something. See you guys later. Oh, and happy Father’s Day, if that applies to anyone reading this.

Jun 13 Show 1 evolved into Hot Pot! Wait, what?
News

Sorry for the lateness of this post. I woke up at 4PM yesterday and completely forgot about this…
Father’s Day is just around the corner, but if you’d prefer, you can spend your Saturday with us at our upcoming hot pot event! But before that, we have a few of the usual culprits to fill our week. More on that below:
- Monday Meeting – Monday, June 13, 6:00PM, Room MC 4063. Nothing huge on the agenda, but we’ll be recapping Show 2 and doing some preliminary planning for Show 3. Feel free to drop by and let us know what you thought of the show.
- Project Night – Wednesday, June 15, 6:00PM, Room SLC 2109. We’ll be playing a few games, and working on a few projects maybe. If you want to hang out, lend a hand, and just have fun in general, then don’t miss project night.
- Games Night – Friday, June 17, 4:30PM, Room MC 4058. In the mood for some gaming? Then look no further than our very own games night. If you want to play some games, be they card games, board games, or these fancy new video games all the kids are talking about, then don’t miss it.
- Hot Pot – Saturday, June 18, 3:00PM, Dylan’s Place. Yes, my place. If you want to eat some delicious midsummer hotpot, come to my place this Saturday. All the details can be found in this forum thread. The cost is a paltry $7, to cover the cost of food.
That’s all for this week. Also of note is that Show 3 is just around the corner, happening on Friday, June 24 and Saturday, June 25. There is also a Chaos TCG tournament on the same Saturday, details for which can be found here.
Have a good week.

Jun 5 What? Show 1 is evolving!
News
Posted By: webmaster
What could it be evolving into, I wonder? If you immediately started humming the Pokémon evolution theme, then congratulations, you pass the test. We have a particularly exciting week ahead of us as we crash headlong into show 2. I’m personally more excited about E3, but hey, I can be excited about two things, can’t I?
What do you mean I don’t have time? Nintendo’s presentation is on Tuesday! It fits! See the proof below:
- Monday Meeting – Monday, June 6, 6:00PM, Room MC 4063. If I can contain my excitement, that is. Come on down to our general meeting, and we’ll chat about the upcoming show 2. There’s a few other things on the agenda as well, but I won’t tell you here. I need some sort of draw, right? Come to the meeting and find out!
- Project Night – Wednesday, June 8, 6:00PM, Room SLC 2109. A staple of midweek, project night is here to fill the void between weekends with much gaming and/or project building. If you want to hang out, meet some folks, and just talk about whatever, you’ll be at home at project night.
- Show 2 – Friday, June 10, 4:30PM to 10:00PM & Saturday, June 11, 2:30PM to 9:00PM, Room MC 2065. This is the moment you’ve all been waiting for. If you consider yourself a fan of anime (and you should, if you’re here) then you owe it to yourself to check out show 2. The schedule is available here. There will also be activities on the dinner breaks of both days. Shows are always are most popular events, so make sure you don’t miss it! There will also be a draw for a nice prize on Saturday, based on the survey handed out at Show 1. And there may be pie.
- Weiss Schwarz Tournament – Saturday, June 11, 11:00AM, Room MC 2017. Will says it better than I can in this thread, but if anime-based card games are of interest to you, check out our tournament, taking place the morning before day 2 of show 2. It’s still (at time of posting) open to new entrants, so get over there and post in that thread if you want to play. If you prefer a different sort of anime-based card game, there is also a Chaos tournament on the Saturday of Show 3, June 25, same time and place. Details and sign-up for that can be found over here.
There will also be a hot pot! What? Hot pot in the summer? We wouldn’t joke about something like that. If you’re interested in attending the hot pot, head on over to this thread to sign up. It’s taking place the weekend following show 2, on Saturday, June 18. The cost is $7 per person, to cover the cost of food.
Now that I have show 2 on my Pokédex, I can just shove it in my PC and forget about it. What? Of course not! I’m using it in my party!
I’ll show you next week. Until then, happy training!
