Hey, did everyone have a good time at hot pot? Is anyone still having a good time at hot pot, since I’m still at hot pot right now? If so, enjoy the rest of hot pot. If hot pot is indeed now over, then let’s move on to the new week. We’re gonna be ramping back up now that reading week is over. Here’s what you can look forward to.

  • Meeting – Monday, February 28, 6:00PM, MC 4064. Tomorrow is the usual meeting business. We’ll probably be talking about the results of the hot pot and the schedule for the upcoming show 3, so if these topics are of interest to you, then check it out.
  • Project Night – Wednesday, March 2, 6:00PM, SLC 2109. Did you miss it? Don’t worry, because project night is back this week! Bring your games and projects and have a great time with everyone.
  • Show 3 – Friday, March 4, 4:30PM to 10:00PM and Saturday, March 5, 2:30PM to 9:00PM, AL 116. This is our bread and butter, anime viewings, and they’re in the same room on both days this time. The schedule for the show has been decided and can be found here. Don’t miss it!
  • Chaos TCG Tournament – Saturday, March 5, 11:00AM, AL 208. Robo is holding his Chaos tournament on Saturday morning, right before the second day of the show. If you’re still interested, you have just under a week to prepare, but you can direct yourself to this thread for details.

And here’s one last (super-last) minute reminder that the deadline for registering with us for Anime North is tomorrow (Monday the 28th) so if you still want to, hurry on over to this thread before it’s too late.

That should cover it for this week. Enjoy!

Hey, everyone. Since I’m sure you’re all tired from studying and all the events that we’ve had, CTRL-A is taking a bit of a break for reading week. That is to say, there will be no meeting, project night, or games night this week. Sad, I know, but you do have something to look forward to.

Hot Pot – Saturday, February 26, 4:30PM, Jon’s Place. Although hot pot is usually much later in the term, it’s been pushed forward this term, so be sure you don’t miss it! Whether you want to eat some delicious food, play some fun games, or just hang out all night long, it promises to be a great time. You’ll need to pay $7 if you want to eat any food. Interested? Check out this thread for details and directions, and to RSVP.

Yes, that’s really it for this week. Kind of strange when you think about it, but that’s reading week for you. A couple quick reminders:

If you want to pre-reg with us for Anime North, you’re running out of time. The deadline for submissions is February 28th, so if you’re interested in saving $15 off the door price, be sure to post in this thread before it’s too late.

Show 3 is coming up the weekend following Hot Pot. I’ll say more in next week’s update, but for now I just wanted to give a heads up, and remind you that the Chaos TCG tournament is happening on Saturday, March 5th at 11AM in AL 208. If you’ve been interested but haven’t yet signed up, head on over to this thread to let everyone know so they can plan accordingly.

That’s all for this week. Take this week off and rest up, because we’ll be picking back up at full speed after. Until then!

Ramped down from Show 2?

We’re now on the tail end of Show 2, marking the approximate halfway point for the term. Has everyone been enjoying it so far? Though, even with midterms rearing their ugly heads we’re not gonna be slowing down. Here’s what you can expect this week in CTRL-A.

  • Meeting #7 – Monday, February 14, 6:00pm, AL 105 – Business as usual, the weekly meeting. We’ll probably be discussing how Show 2 went.
  • Project Night – Wednesday, February 16, 6:00pm, SLC 2109 – More business as usual, it’s games night version 2 project night! Seriously, though, bring your projects. Con-G is right around the corner, hint hint.
  • Games Night – Friday, February 18, 4:30pm, AL 208 – Is it redundant to say “business as usual?” It’s games night. Bring your board games, video games, card games, any games you have. Very social, and lots of fun.

Nothing Ctrl-A this weekend, but here’s a final reminder that Con-G is happening this Saturday and Sunday in Guelph, and it promises to be a lot of fun. The pre-reg period is now over, but that’s no reason not to go.

That’s all for this week. Here’s wishing everyone a happy Valentine’s Day! There was cake at show 2. It was delicious and moist. Until next week!

Ramped up for show 2?

Everyone nice and rested from that “relaxing” week we just had? Good, because it’s time to get down to business with Show 2! Plus, a couple of the usual suspects, the meeting and project night. Overall, good fun is to be had. So have fun! (Note: Fun is not optional. You will have fun.)

  • Meeting #6 – Monday, February 7 at 6:00pm, AL 105 – Don’t get confused, this one is in a slightly different location, but still in the same building. The schedule for Show 2 will likely be decided upon at this one.
  • Project Night – Wednesday, February 9 at 6:00pm, SLC 2109 – Project night, during which you can work on your projects, play games, or just socialize in general. If you have something you’re working on for Con-G, you’re running out of time, so this might be your best chance to get it done. (There is no Cosplay Tea Party this week due to Show 2.)
  • Show 2 – Friday, February 11 at 4:30pm to 10:00pm, Room AL 116 and Saturday, February 12 at 2:30pm to 9:00pm, Room AL 113 – It’s finally time for our bread and butter, another anime show. Tell your friends! Be sure to come on both days to fully experience the wonder that a show offers. Schedule can be found here.
  • Meeting #7 – Monday, February 14 at 6:00pm, AL 105

To reiterate what I said at the end of last week’s post, Con-G is coming up. Not this weekend (that’s show 2) but the weekend after, on Saturday the 19th and Sunday the 20th. It should be awesome, so definitely check it out.

And that’s your week in Ctrl-A. Enjoy yourselves. (Enjoyment is equally mandatory.)
