Do you like the format of the shows?

·        I think smaller shows would be easier to organize, so they may be more effective.

·        Yes, shorter shows, with fewer series, but more episodes.

·        Yes, but only if it involves splitting the series, so that we would change our current expectation of people coming to every show.

·        I like what we have now alright, but yeah, more smaller shows might be better

·        I answered yes, but I have an opinion anyway. More frequent, shorter shows would not necessarily be a bad thing, though I'd be hesitant to recommend on weekdays. Regardless, it might not hurt if the Saturday show was trimmed in length a bit.

·        No. Large shows are good, since I would not have to stay here on weekends that often, instead of going home.

·        I don't mind the current format, but I do like to have perhaps more frequent shows, and less at a time. Also, I suggest having more episodes and less series, because it is kind of annoying that I won't be able to see the continuation of my favourite series because I won't be around in certain terms. Since UW has a lot of Coop, I'm sure it's the same for a lot other people. We should try to aim to finish series that we start within a term (if the length is short), or a couple of terms (if the length is long ~50).

·        It's not the length of the shows that bother me. What I'd really like to see is more series of fewer episodes. eg. Show enough episodes of a series that, say, a 26 episode series finishes in 2 terms instead of 3.

·        This sounds really good, as long as it's at a reachable time for most people. For example, I'm in co-op, and some other people are surely in their work terms also, and engineers seem to have a good chunk of their day in classes.

How do you feel about dubs? Should the club show more dubs?

·        I think that showing dubs might make it more accessible to new members (that is, people who are not existing fans of anime), but I think that we would also turn aside some other fans of anime.

·        I tend to prefer subs, but don't hate dubs

·        Dubs are fun, if they're well done.

·        I would like to see more good dubs.  Nerima Daikon Brothers is great, and as long as the quality is high, I wouldn't object at all to more dubs.

·        If the dub is good and isn't playing on the TV currently I see no reson not showing them, however, it means slightly more work on which series is watched in dub and which not.  it is also a possibility to show dubs with subs so everone is slightly unhappy

·

·        There are plenty of dubbed options available on YTV and other dedicated animation channels.  I like the opportunity to watch the shows subbed.  I don't mind offering one or two shows dubbed, but increasing that would likely shift my attendance time towards the negative.

·        For that show (Daikon Brothers), the dub seemed nice. Generally I prefer watching anime subtitled. To me, that's part of the experience of watching anime and also you don't end up watching a badly dub of the show either.

·        I don't want to watch dubs.  If it seemed that showing dubs would genuinely bring in more people, that's worth doing, but I don't think it'll work in the current format.  So my answer is basically "yes, but only if we also have multiple smaller shows - in which case one of the sequences could be "dub night" and I could just choose not to attend that one."  The NDB dub is pretty good, but I'd still rather watch it subbed.

·        nope, most dubs I've seen are uninspiring, to say the least

·        Depends on the dub.  Narima Daikon Brothers has been quite well done so far, though not all dubs are like that.  I enjoy hearing Japanese too though so I tend to prefer subs.

·        NO! Keep the series in their original languages with english subtitles, it is the way they were meant to be watched.

·        I think Nerima Daikon Bros. is enough dub for anyone.

·        I have no real preference, as long as the dubs are not distracting quality-wise.

·        I can stand any language. I feel shows that count on you being familiar with Japanese (i.e. shows using a lot of puns) should be shown dubbed.

·        I don't mind dubs really, and it might draw more members new to anime. NDB dub is actually not that bad, not the best, but not annoyingly horrible. I'm pretty tolerable when it comes to dubs, but many other otakus may not agree.

·        As long as the dub isn't too bad, I suppose I wouldn't mind if we showed some dubbed shows.

·        I prefer subs.

·        Dubs are alright, I don't mind NDB dubbed (it's still hilarious), but as long as series that shouldn't have been dubbed is not shown dubbed, it's all cool.

·        Daikon Brothers is fine dubbed, but I prefer subtitles for most shows

Joint Events with Laurier anime club?

·        I think it would be alright, but due to the current size of the ministry of anime, I don't know how effective it would be.

·        Pro

·        Might be fun

·        Hell yeah, let us work together with our anime brothers and sisters.  Cooperation can only benefit both our respective organizations.

·        Better than if we compeat for members and events. which may end up happening anyways.  also terms must be identified, also it should depend on thier policies such as permissions and whatnot

·        might be ok

·        That could be a fun time.  We should investigate.

·        Does it have people in it who are more fun than our current membership?  If so, yes.

·        Think it's a great idea - it would probably save us money & it gives us a chance to meet more people.

·        I think inter-club interaction would be a good thing.

·        I think that would be really fun.  Its always nice meeting other people with the same interests.

·        I'll know more when they get some web presence so we know what they're about (and whether they're here to stay)

·        Sure, why not?

·        It' okay.

·        Sure, it might be fun, and draw more people from both universities.

·        Yes, the more the better.

·        Yeah, that would be interesting.

·        It might be fun to meet more people, and sharing resources might benefit both clubs.

Anime series that members have and are willing to share

·        Kaleido Star, Nadesico, Please Teacher, Golden Boy, Evangelion, Hand Maid May, Comic Party, Genshiken, Nuku Nuku

·        out of the series currently being shown I have Samurai 7 and Gantz both are at the clubs disposal while I am in waterloo, as is any that I have such as Karas etc, Coop terms are anyone's guess thugh as I have no idea where I'll be.

·        I have ronin kenshin and hiriko nogo as well as the cat returns, nausca, pocoroso, and much more that I can't think of right now that I can make a list if you want.  I have even more on VHS but you won't show that.

·        Most of my DVDs are things we have already shown.  Ones I'd list include Super Gals! (first 26 episodes, which in licensing was called the first series even though the original is really one 52-episode series), Boogiepop Phantom, Utena (we showed it all before, but not all in regular shows), Cromartie High, Nieaa Under 7.

·        I've got all of the '80s version of "Astro Boy", all of "The Irresponsible Captain Tylor", I've got the Cowoy Bebop "Best Sessions" DVD (Episodes 1, 5, 8, 17, 19, 24), Arjuna vol 1 (eps 1-3), and then some movies - "Assemble Insert", "Howl's Moving Castle", "Millenium Actress" (but it's a used VHS with poor sound quality - amazing movie, though), "Ninja Scroll", "Spirited Away", and the "Rurouni Kenshin Motion Picture" (_not_ the prequel OVA)

·        Of course I do, I have Gravitation, Inuyasha movies, Gasarki, Orphen Season 2, some Saiyuki, etc

·        Nothing that hasn't already been showed within the past few years (admittedly bought because they were good at CTRL-A) except perhaps "Perfect Blue".

·        The only series I have on DVD is the Wild Arms anime, but I would probably be willing to contibute money if the club wanted to buy the rest of series we're currently showing.

·        I'm willing to lend some DVDs, but most of the series I own, I was introduced to through CTRL-A.

·        Usurei Yatsura, Princess Nine, Excel Saga, Azumanga Daioh, Those Who Hunt Elves,Real Bout High School, Tenchi Muyo GXP

Ideas to draw in members?

·        New events; casual events. Perhaps meet and greet nights.

·        Make sure that there are new series starting each term - if I only see a batch of shows starting at episode 13, I'm unlikely to go.

·        Have more fun events and opportunites to be social.  Less advertising of anime, and more advertising of the club.

·        More awareness of club screenings, a balance between dubbed and subtitled anime, and more functions between screenings.  And no, I don't include debates in that last item.  At all.

·        more of what we've been doing, encouraging events other than the shows, more advertisments, contests, etc. stuff that can't be got by downloading or watching youtube

·        mabey a cosplay  or hold the watcon and publicize it more.

·        A decrease is an inevitability due to a number of factors that cannot be changed.  The glory days are GONE and must be accepted.  Most anime clubs at other schools would kill for CTRL-A's declining numbers.  That said, offering more activities outside of official shows are always a good bet.  However, the volunteers that manage the shows are already taxed practically to burnout and receive very little in the way of appreciation for doing what they do and the membership has terminal apathy, so I'm not optimisitic.

·        Reduce the suck level.

·        more advertising, especially near the start of term; have some sort of easily accessible, free booth display where people can actually _watch_ things.

·        Publicize as much as possible, try some avenues other than just posters.  More club contents/activities at shows and maybe some outside of regularly scheduled shows (like the luncheons).

·        I would try and show different shows more often.  I like having like two episodes in a row, but maybe mix the shows up a bit more.  Also, advertise better somehow....

·        I don't know. More community exposure would be nice, like showing stuff in the SLC, or helping with Mathsoc Movie Night to bring out Mathsoc (Anime) Movie Night. Handing out discount vouchers (with show dates) at these events might help (and would give people something to take home).   Another thing that might help is cross-pollination with other clubs (WATSFIC, UWGamers, etc.) by holding joint or semi-joint events. Not 'in one room you have anime in another room you have video games' so much as 'in one room we'll be showing some anime, playing some games, showing some more anime, playing some more games, ...' You get into the problem that few people might stick around during the gaming periods, but we'll get more people sticking around for the anime periods (which is the point of the exercise)

·        I think we should try to draw in new fans of anime, people who are potentially interested and want to know what anime is all about (those who are not watching fansubs or youtube at home), and if showing more dubs will do that, then we should try showing more dubs. Also, hold some events in places like the SLC great hall (like the UW gamers have done), to draw attention from random students walking by. Maybe more frequent shows will be accessible to more people as well (those who don't stay on campus during the weekends).

·        Combine shows with Laurier?

·        Not much I know about here. Perhaps more types of advertising?

·        door prize draw, show anime before they appear dubbed on TV

Is the survey effective in getting feedback? If not, what do you suggest?

·        No. In order for the survey to be effective, a significant portion of users need to respond. I would suggest the survey either be distributed at the beginning of the term, or have constant small surveys both online and at the shows.

·        This web survey is very powerful, but other than pushing it as a way to improve your club, I don't see much that can be done.  Not everyone will complete it, and people will just plain forget.  Just make sure no one releases it early or anything crazy like that...

·        No, butI have no suggestion at the current time

·        Offer a paper survey at the shows.  Or have a suggestion box at the membership desk.

·        Stop worrying so much about feedback and do whatever would be fun for the people who are willing to actually do it.

·        I never got an e-mail about this survey - I wouldn't know about it unless a friend mentioned it was up & online. First priority, then, advertising the survey!

·        It's about as good as any way.  It's probably either this or poll people directly at shows.  Maybe hand out questionaires at clubs days or something like that.

·        Maybe do a survey at an actual show.

·        Not the best way to get feedback, but our only one. Short of handing out papers and pens during shows, this is the most direct way to hear what members are thinking.

·        Not really. I don't really have any other ideas though, other than to rip off the school's evaluation forms they distribute during class near the end of term.

·        Yes I think a survey if effective. There's no obligation and no real need to lie, so members are giving thoughtful and truthful reponses on what they want.

·        I thing we should do a survey at the beginning of the term as well, to get a sense of what people want to see in the current term. Or have a short survey on Club Days, to get a sense of what potential members want.

·        Yes.

·        Advertise the survey, or post it in anime forums? I'm really not sure if I should be answering this.

·        Give more then 2 hours notice before closing the survey

Any other suggestions?

·        Take note of the people that are always at setup and takedown, who man the doors, run the projector, help with the death machine, sit at membership, run events, who provide other services that make the shows interesting (and able to happen at ALL) and at least acknowledge their efforts.  Otherwise your long term volunteers are just going to stop doing what they do.

·        Just a suggestion: Instead of having "free show" then buy your membership. You could instead have a "membership" but also a nightly show fee, so the club goer gets to chose what they want.

·        not at the moment

·        I think we should aim for at least one activity/contest per show and do what we can to get the word out about the club.

·        Nope, but I really want to reiterate the idea that meeting with WLU's group sometime would be fun.

·        It'd be nice if shows were a little more interactive, but as for how to do that, I'm at a loss.

·        This term's membership card was too large to fit nicely into a wallet slot.

·        I like how productive (and/or unproductive) the meetings are, I'm also wondering if different types "dinner" food can be sold on Saturday shows.

·        for the cancelled show signs should have been posted in the AL to let those without daytime computer access know about the cancelation

How do you feel CTRL-A is doing as a club?

·        Poorly. Membership is declining rapidly, and the club is still operating much in the same way it did many years ago.

·        Okay

·        We'll survive, of that I am sure.  As for our future, I don't know.  Maybe things will pick up, if people work hard enough.

·        losing its major source of dvds, projector failing soon, club membership decreasing, computer fixed?, new anime club poping up in laurier, and WatCon posponed...  given that nothing really optimistic comes to mind.  But very little of that is preventable I suppose either.

·        it needs to grow but I am not sure how to help.

·        It's fine.  I enjoy the shows and other functions.

·        Good. The club itself is alot better organized then other University anime club I went to during my highschool career.

·        I expect to graduate and leave some time this calendar year, and I'll be impressed if CTRL-A is still a going concern by the time I do.

·        fine. Keeps me entertained :)

·        It could use more socializing other than saturday luncheons that i can never make, lol.

·        So-so. Better than most of our counterparts across the continent.

·        I think it's weakening.  I hope it stays alive though.

·        It's doing all right.

·        Excellent, I like the shows! Especially the series that ended! They were good!

Any final thoughts/comments

·        Let's revive CTRL-A! CTRL-ALT-DELETE!

·        how is this question different from question 9 again?  As I wasn't in Waterloo during the term can anyone make an elctronic copy of it?

·        Keep truckin' along.

·        Not just now. Well, except to ask where all the meeting minutes are, we're missing a few from this term.

·        More Eternal Fighter ZERO!

·        Yoohoo for the underspoken president!
