Activities during breaks

  • AMVs...
  • anime related video games, amvs
  • AMVs, video shorts
  • anime news
  • Slides, AMV, member photos and art
  • Short Videos, Music
  • Video shorts, AMV's, slides
  • AMVs, Video Shorts
  • AMV's ,  more Red V.S. Blue
  • Have a break: it's too hectic to schedule much between the short breaks, and too difficult for organizers to to have something running constantly.
  • video shorts, amvs
  • AMVs, music, slides, member art or videos (if they're willing to share), perhaps episodes of Panda-Z
  • Slides
  • I rather like the AMVs and slides.
  • discussions
  • Anime music, AMVs.

Do you like the format of the shows?

  • fine way it is
  • I currently find no fault with the way the shows are run.
  • It's a bit much at once - could things be spread out a bit more? I'm not sure what I'd suggest as an alternate format, though.
  • yes, i like the current format
  • show schedules are good.
  • Generally I think it works well, sometimes it would be nice to see more of a series at once, but it's nice to have variety too so I could go either way with that.
  • I think it's fine the way it is
  • I guess the way the shows are scheduled are alright.
  • The way it is is good.  Every weekend or every other weekend is too much commitment.
  • More than 4 shows per term!
  • Fine, even more shows would be good (tho that's probably not possible), get the word out better about the 1st Fall show
  • The current set up for shows (Fri/Sat) work great!  I see no reason to change things.
  • I suppose. It might be nice to have smaller shows randomly throughout the term on weeknights (take for example MathSoc's Thursday movie nights)
  • The current format is fine, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".
  • I'm fine with it as it is
  • i would like more, maybe on sunday?
  • No.  I'm never here on the weekends, and I miss most of the showings.  There should be more showings during the week.
  • Keep it the same.

What do you think of the Activities at the shows?

  • they be good
  • I quite enjoy the contests, and am encouraged by the  increased amount of participation this term.
  • Wrt the art contest, why not make artworks due a week in advance and post them on the website so people can have more time to think abouit their votes.
  • like them
  • Yes, I liked the special events
  • Fun!
  • I think they're good, seemed to have an ok turn out this term.
  • I like them, although i missed the cosplay contest, the other ones were good
  • I think that these special events are good and should keep theses events.  A group trip to an anime convention?
  • the cosplay was cool
  • Good stuff, fun even if you aren't participating.
  • Fun!  Maybe an AMV contest?
  • They are awesome.
  • I hope they will comtinue.
  • They are usually poorly run (due to lack of volunteers and planning), but more importantly, are really given enough presence: it doesn't matter how much you announce something if it's just going to be something for 'some' of the members.
  • They're good ideas, if only people would take more interest. I heard the turnout for this term is better than previous ones, so that's a good sign.
  • They went fairly well, methinks
  • I did enjoy them. Continue with them as long as the emphasis is still on fun and not taking it all too seriously.
  • i like them, they're funny.
  • Liked them. Need more advertising/participation.

Any other comments/suggestions regarding the shows?

  • Pointy sticks are needed
  • See my answer to #29.
  • Nothing major
  • I think the environment is kind of plain.  There is not much interaction between the members during breaks except when there is an event.
  • More Shows!
  • I'm continuously getting bored of attending CTRL-A shows, just because it's still a formant of which I can see anime at home; watch some, take a break, watch more, take another break. Again, I personally don't know anyone else in the club so I refrain from going to meetings and attending any outside events like luncheons, 'cause it's extremely akward really not knowing anyone else.
  • Could try and start on time.
  • Not at this time.
  • They tend to run alright, usually a small number of volunteers who constantly show up, and the shows generally run on time.
  • Perhaps extend pizza run to Friday as well. The show starts at 4:30, so it's a bit early to eat before the show, and people do get hungry around 5:00 - 6:00, and if they leave to get food, they might miss their favourite show. Also, try showing FMA in the dubbed version.
  • Nope
  • While it would be good to have a bigger turn-out at the shows, I care more about a positive attitude from the people who do show up.

Thoughts on the Inter-show Luncheons

  • I always forget and miss them...
  • The inter-show luncheon that I was able to attend was very enjoyable, and I truly wish I could have made the other two.  The choice  of restaurent doesn't bother too much, save that the farther away from campus they might be, the harder it willl be to get to.
  • I haven't been to one yet - so far they've always been on weekends I was previously booked to do things at home!
  • I like them, I've found the restaurants are usually reasonably good.
  • I haven't been to any yet...
  • I've never been at one of these Inter-show luncheons.  I guess they are a good idea but didn't get the time to go.
  • A great opportunity to socialize with CTRL-A members.  I've even found a new restaurant (and menu item) through Inter-show Luncheons.  Looking forward to the next one.
  • They rock!  We go whenever we can.
  • Yes.
  • See above
  • I didn't attend any. Sure, it's nice to do something communal (is that right?), but lunch... not my thing.
  • The ones I went to were nice. A good excuse to explore different epicurian options
  • I'm afraid I haven't been able to come to any of them.  Maybe a dinner during the week?
  • Did not attend.
  • Let's try some restaurants beyond the University Shops Plaza...

Thoughts on extra social events

  • Sure... However I won't take charge of anything...
  • I like the thought of having social events and wish the club  had more of them, but I know that this is the result of the general lack of participation.
  • I'd like it.
  • I wouldn't mind them, although it would depend on what it was
  • social events are nice.
  • I think it wouldn't hurt (much).  Something that might not take too much effort to organize could be a sort of "informal" evening where members gather at some location and bring in samples from their anime/manga collection and/or play games and have everyone bring some snack food to share.
  • I'd like to see that, the cosplay panel was an interesting start.
  • maybe a field trip to an anime convention together or something.
  • Social events are something that would be nice, as long as they aren't awkward; providing that, I would like to see more.
  • Some kind of special movie night or short series marathon would be great.
  • Advertise for CTRL-A would be fun.
  • See 31
  • I think social events would be great, but without volunteers (enthusiastic ones) this won't happen. It'd be nice to see seminars, and general get togethers (like gaming nights maybe, where folks can just relax and meet folks), or even something along the lines of a talent show (don't quite know if that's social), but again, need volunteers and such.
  • We could try, but I'm a bit worried about lack of interest. It's a good idea to have something other than shows, but I'd hate to see volunteers work so hard to organize the event, but people not getting interested.
  • I think it'd be nice to have some things other than shows, but I have no idea what they should be.
  • I like them.  Um, maybe like go bowling or something?
  • I think there should be more social events.  Chat, play games, I don't know, it would jsut be fun to get together sometime other than at the showings and meetings.
  • Depends on the event.

How do you feel CTRL-A is doing as a club

  • Better than the past summer
  • I whink it has improved from the previous Fall term.
  • seems alright
  • good
  • very well
  • I think you are doing well.
  • To me, it seems to be doing ok.  I don't know how membership was compared to last term (I think it was up), but it seemed to me that there was more participation in the contests this term than in some previous terms which, in my opinion, is a better guage of how well the club is doing than raw membership numbers.
  • I'm starting to question it's organization, but that doesn't really matter. All the shows are fun.
  • I think CTRL-A is doing pretty good. I would join again next term.
  • so-so
  • good
  • ok mebership I think was up from last term
  • Fairly well, although I noticed not a lot of people sticking around on the last Saturday.  On the whole though, I'm quite satisfied with the club and how it's doing (and with what I'm getting out of it).
  • Fabulously.
  • Excellent.
  • Good. I noticed that not many people went out of their way to say hi.
  • I am worried about the low numbers.
  • Poorly, but since the results from the general membership (that is, the folks that show up to the shows and don't do much else) will say otherwise, it doesn't matter much, does it?
  • well enough
  • good, but they're needs to be discussions so people can meet each other.
  • Pretty good.  I think it could be doing better though.

Any other comments/suggestions?

  • Have you seen my mind?
  • not at the moment, nope
  • ganbatte yo!
  • Best Waterloo club ever(?)! Hoorah for the prez!
  • none
  • Did we meet or exceed our incomming dues inother words were we in the red or the black?
  • Thanks to all the volunteers for their hard work!
  • More Shows! (This means more than 4 shows per term and more anime series)
  • Attendance seems to drop off as time went on.
  • Could we show dubs? I mean, I know the mandate is 'to show animation in its primary language', or something to that extent, but part of the reason anime has done so well in America is because of dubs. At the very least, could we ask the membership what it wants?  Also, did anyone ever think that the general membership generally gives lukewarm results on the surveys every term? I mean, sure, we know what to watch next term, but the comments don't really give the club any idea where to go, considering a lot of the club members don't do much more than attend shows.
  • None right now
  • Is it really that big of a deal if we play stuff that isn't liscenced?
