Recap:

The Show was ‘Good’ and we had a surprising amount of new memberships (who paid) as someone brought his friends. There was talk of a ‘two for one deal’ on memberships to maybe increase the amount of people we have coming to the show. Activity was labeled “Superfun” Bessie won the anime name that tune.

Discs:

We had all the discs, we ran on time. No significant problems were mentioned.

Takedown:      Nick, Chris

Setup:              Nick, Chris, Cole (Friday)

Membership:    Nick

Doors:              Jeremy, James

CEIT 1015 Room

We need to check to see if we can gain access to the back room of the CEIT 1015 for storage purposes in regards to the projector. We also need to make sure people note the new room, and maybe send out an email ahead of the usual time to this effect.

Advanced Advertising

Bessie had posters ready for show 3, Chris volunteered to put them up in ALH. Posters also went to Laura, Adam and Reinhold. Posters are due to the Feds by Thursday (June14 2007) Bessie also received ‘Kudos’ for doing an excellent job coordinating the advertising despite Bessie’s motion to hit herself with a fish for using Kinko’s.

Movie

“Transformers” the movie is going to be presented as the movie of choice for show three. No backup or source for the movie was named.

4, Fall Term Planning

Radio Station

James tried to contact some local Radio stations, but they haven’t replied. He will try calling again to make sure they are on board.

Newspaper Advertisements

Imprint or Chord weekly will run 1 advertisement for $40-$60. Four business card sized ads will run about $110, it was suggested to run 1 for each show. Also noted is that we have no idea what the rates are for the frosh issue, also suggested was an insert, but again we need to know what the rates will be. Nick volunteered to look into this.

Suggested Insert ideas included a coupon idea making the 1st show free, as this would help see who actually read the insert and paid attention. Also suggested was a coupon for reduced memberships.

No one wanted to look into the Campus Vision advertisement Rates.

Also noted, we need to dispel the myth that ctrl-a is all about viewing anime, we need to find a way to focus more on the social aspect.

Banner

Karl was tapped for poster/banner printing duty as the club wants to make a semi-permenant banner to hang in the SLC. Information needed to be included on the poster includes the club name, graphic, possible club office hours, max size 42” wide 100dpi & up.

Activities for the Fall Term

Weeknight Show with Nick is set to continue in the fall term. Alfie mentioned he would try to continue his Dub night as well.

Format for the actual fall term was tabled until next meeting.

A cosplay contest on Halloween is begging to be set up.

A possible prize should be offered to the person who managed to get the most people to sign up; tie will result into a dance off.

Watcon II

UW Gamers and other clubs and merchants want to do another Watcon. Nick has voiced his attempt to possibly put it all together, and the possibility of the Ministry of Anime coming to help doesn’t hurt either. It was noted that someone should try and contact Amy Yu as it is widely believed she was a big help in the original Watcon.

After Show 4

Reinhold was made happy upon finding out the possibility of the weekly dub nights continuing into the month after show four which has been described as the ‘woeful-anime-less-time-screeching-insanity-inducing-fugue-state’.

5, New Business

Facebook

The Facebook group for Ctrl-A which was recently implemented, has some mixed results. Some don’t feel we are reaching our target local audience; on the other hand we have Maximiliano, the president of Anime Tech who found us through Facebook. He wants to foster world wide support for anime, and he currently resides in Mexico. Despite the 5,000 mile difference in location he wanted to help put together an event of some kind, there was talk of turning him into the club’s pen pal, and it was widely agreed upon that should he actually show up to a ctrl a event or meeting, he should be rewarded with Pocky. Visiting him could also be a fun idea and make for a cool road trip should we decide to visit every anime convention in the states on the way down and up.

Also mentioned was a possibility of mentioning the Weekday shows and the luncheons on Facebook. Though it has a questionable outreach, there is potential for attracting new members to these events.

Online Membership List

Tabled until next meeting was the motion to sign up more people who could possibly moderate the online membership list so we could send out more frequent e-mails, or to automate the e-mails for that every (Sunday) we could have an automated message sent out by e-mail to inform everyone on what is up with current club activities and meetings.

6, Old Business

            Weekday Shows

Alfie’s shows have had a few people, but he will be stopping for midterms.

Nick has also had some success with his dub night, but there doesn’t seem to be

enough advertisement for the dub nights as the publicity is only limited to the list.

Matt also suggested making every dub night different by showing 5-6 samplers

which would decrease the need for mandatory attendance.

Kate Also volunteered dedicated slides for the weekday shows.

            Better Way

We need to find a better way to pay for our web services

4 month term? Maybe a year Turn?

Subject is still tabled till next meeting

AD&D Game

Idea was presented on the forums by Sebastion

Idea has been tabled until further notice.

Club Computer

Karl says the computer is “Doing alright” as he wiped the drive and is installing

everything back in again from scratch.

Office Hours

Chris has decided he has 2 hours to spare on Mondays between his last class and

possible meeting time and has decided to open the office at this time. Also Sarah,

Cole, and Alfie wanted to be put onto the keylist so they could hold some office

hours.

Yakitate Japan

Subject about permissions was raised

Need to contact for license to show

Subject tabled until next meeting.

Go Club

No one has talked with the Go-club about a possible collaboration.

Subject of a possible co-coordinated activity is still tabled.

Signing Authority

Chris still needs to drop by the bank and do signing authority with Karl and Nick.
