2, Clubs Day Recap

On Friday there were 3 people at the booth at any given time, although there was a sparse flow of people.

34 people signed up over the clubs days combined, and about 17 paid for memberships. It was noted a surprising number of people who signed up at clubs days were new to ctrl-a.

Scissor Lift / Emergency Lights:

A/V have officially said “No” to ctrl-a obtaining keys to the podium on grounds that we must now call in a tech to lift the scissor lift projector in the room (They have removed the controls from the podium). If the scissor lift is down, we must call in a tech, which may incur a fee for the technician. They will charge for ˝ hour, they charge in 15 minute increments so 15 minutes to put the scissors lift up and 15 minutes to bring it back down after the shows. We can possibly relay this fee to Feds as they have funds set up for this sort of thing.

As we cannot enter the podium, we can no longer turn off the emergency lights; again we may need to call in a tech so they can take care of this. The emergency lights were on throughout most of Friday’s show.

New Projector and Locked Doors

A new projector may avoid this cost if we have one with lens shift and has calibration to the room. This will cost more up front, but may be worth it in the long run.

On Saturday morning (before noon) the doors were still locked towards set up time. Campus police is responsible for unlocking the doors, but they handle all items by priority, if the doors are locked in the future, procedure is to call campus police so they can increase our priority and unlock the doors for us.

Discs:

My Hime still hasn’t arrived, and is the only show we did not have discs for. Internet rental may not be a viable option for us.  X-treme play is open to obtaining anime that we wish to show, Kate has submitted a wish list for us.

Membership

At end of Saturday we had ____ names on the list and ____ paid memberships. We also may have made money on the pizza. On Saturday 8 people signed up for anime jeopardy which was declared “Super Fun!” by Bessie who had won.

Volunteers

Volunteers are desperately needed to man the membership desk and the doors for show 2 we need 2-3 people.

Advanced Advertising

Bessie had posters ready for show 2, Chris volunteered to put them up in AL.

Movie

“Venus Wars” was suggested by Chris, Kate ordered it and hopefully it will arrive before show 2. “Grass hoppa 3” is named as backup movie and Karl has it.

Radio Station

Some stations will help advertise non-profit organization events. ERO contacted a radio station, but received no response. The ERO will try again, and try other stations to see if they will help as well. Also it was decided to look for more ways to advertise on campus, like using imprint, writing an editorial for ctrl-a has a good chance of being printed.

Go Club

No one has talked with the Go-club about a possible collaboration. Kate and Reinhold will approach the Go-club with possibilities of either a Go-Club / anime event featuring Hikaru No Go or possible problems / teaching games during Show 2 dinner.

Activities

Kate has skits and Karoke planned for Show 3, and Amv contest and drawing contest for Show 4, and was hoping she could obtain Go-clubs help for a problem / solution session during Show 2 dinner break. If it cannot be arranged in time, other suggestions included another jeopardy, name that tune, and any other possible game show adaptations.

            Anime

Suggestion was made to show more mainstream anime like Naruto or Bleach in the original format-uncensored, We are already doing this for Eureka 7. Also suggested was a “Best of…” event for mainstream anime possibly as part of the SLC event.

5, Weekday Shows

Weekday shows, currently Alfie wants to do a Wednesday show, and Nick wants to do a Thursday show. They both need to get their respective room requirements to the ERO so he can book a room. The Projector, small speakers, and DVD player are all currently in the office as requested, Nick wished to do a Dub night for his Thursday show. Both show night schedules are based on Matt’s library for simplicity’s sake. For the Wednesday night shows it was a suggested possibility that the club would sub the shows.

6, Support from the Community

Carry on comics, Gen X, and X-treme Play are all willing to give deals and help with prizes in exchange for free advertising / good word to club members.

Carry On comics have a special %10 discount for club members and will special order in just about anything they can manage that Gemini Jetpack used to order in.

Gen X has an anime-lovers deal where they can give you 50 rentals for $30.

X-treme Play offered free rentals for prizes, and are open to gaining discs for rental for what we are trying to show.

Now&Then books was suggested as a possible resource as they formally carried anime and manga. Peculiar hours and rumors of it selling off stock to reopen into a smaller store will make it difficult to get a hold of them though.

7, New Business

            Flyers

Flyers will be arriving from an Oshawa anime convention, ctrl-a’s address was sent to them, and we were asked to kindly put them up on the conventions behalf.

            T-Shirts

Spam was sent to Kate about a non-existent T-shirt order. This sparked speculation about re-printing T-shirts; currently we are not selling T-shirts as none can be found.
