1. Called to order
2. Survey Results?
27 results, 7 non-members
Reasons for non-attendance of volunteer shows:
Too busy during the week, out of town
Not enough lead time to give notice for weekly shows
Didn't know about the shows, period
Series recommendations:
A lot aren't licensed
Haruhi was very popular
Many wanted to return to previous show formats
Many nicely surprised by amount of activities
Dance and Laser Quest activities well received
Request to challenge KonJa next. KonJa is up for it.
Request to create an anime library
3. Next term planning
Format:
Big Shows? Approved
Fri/Sat? Approved
Start Later on Saturdays? Under consideration
Three, Four, or Six shows? Six approved
Motion to show six shows approved
-making posters and scheduling these things should be interesting
Should we still have this club? Why?
-because people like to watch anime, it's fun, why not, etc.
-concern about the need volunteers, etc.
Volunteer Shows:
Any volunteers? Some maybes, depends on circumstances
Amanda is a definite yes
Should we have them? We're going to be having six shows already.
Possibly turn the Saturday into a volunteer show but others would prefer some weekday shows
What have learned?
It's a lot of work distributed over too few people
Tell people up front the work involved
Give the volunteer responsibility to the execs
Needs more promotion
Does the club need people to bring the cashbox to each show in order to take money for membership? Amanda reports not needing it
Maybe just keep a tiny membership purse that's easy to transport
Motion to leave the details to next term's exec: Approved
Motion: Should we run them or not? Approved
Do what we did this term next term, only more so: Seems to meet general approval
Meetings:
Divide meetings into general and exec
Those in favour of exec and general meetings: Approved
How to format them?
Motion: Work it out with the new exec next term: Approved
Discussion: how many general meetings are required? Summoning volunteers, is it important?
Dates: Book every Monday from Jan. 7 to April 14
Activities:
Any ideas for next term? Dance competition for that Hari dance thing, or karaoke too
Do activities with other clubs
More Lasers!
Activities that allow more people to participate more easily
Advertising:
Banner: Mo is planning one, will advertise for the shows
Putting up more posters: need more volunteers
4. Anime North
Deadline moved to Dec. 15
110$ room, 40$ pass, bus unknown
Not the May 2-4 weekend
Volunteer? Possibly free admission
5. Volunteer Shows
Matt's Shows:
Still one more to go
Theme: Ten things you should never say to a girl, list revealed at show
Matt's overall assessment is that the term went pretty well
Audio Equipment: Not great
There are new speakers but heavy and require more volunteers to carry
Saturday Show:
Went as well as expected, Adam couldn't get certain discs
Adam sent a report although couldn't come personally
Adam got his own audio equipment
10 minute breaks too long
Didn't like the e-comm lag for promoting the show
Might purchase his own equipment
Might post to external website
This might make it more of an external show than a club show
6. Old Business
Show-in-a-bag? Next term, yay Karl for putting it together
Futureshop is having a 20% off speakers sale: Get new ones?
Nah, stick with the ones he's already got
Show recommendations: send to the prez, assemble list from survey
Laser Quest: The winner wasn't actually a member of either club, so Sebastian got it (he was second place and paid the other guy's way)
Curse you, ringers
Made about 100$/with WatSFiC=50$ profit from the evening
25 participants overall
Will definitely be done again
Office: Might get an actual office, hurrah
7. New Business
Financial report: We have money
Approx. How much money spent this term? 1000$
Possibly a profit, but not much
Doesn't include equipment cost
Printer: Currently with Bessie, will stay that way until next term at least
Bessie needs people to design posters: Mo volunteers
Request for next term's exec: Change constitution to only be about anime, or start showing non-anime animation
Membership cards: open the design up to the members, Chris will send an e-mail
Free membership for the design winner
Motion to reduce the cost of membership: Seconded: Discussion
Straw poll sez: against
Lowering prices =/= more people buying memberships, necessarily
The club started showing and buying more anime this term
Don't currently know our financial status, so it's hard to decide on membership cost
Other clubs seem able to hold more events with less money
However, seems like there might be hidden costs involved and different kinds of events
Price hasn't risen in 9 years
It's actually quite cheap
We actually do a lot of events, especially this term
Charge admissions? Might be tricky with permissions to show anime
Motion to table: Seconded: Approved
Tabled until the club has the financial report
Create a dictatorship of exec to decide things more quickly?
Requires more interest from exec
Observation: Kind of lots of exec list spam in which list members send e-mails to many people who don't actually need to read the e-mail
8. Approval of the Previous Meeting Minutes
Approved
9. Adjourned
