I'm getting back into playing Pokemon TCG. I was wondering if anyone here also wants to get back into it. I am doing this because I will be joining in Pokemon Tournaments during the summer (starting next year). J and J sells cards at really cheap prices (like 3.45+tax) for each pack and like a tin is about $13.49+tax which is exceptionally cheaper than at stores at P-Mall and other locations.
I remember playing pokemon TCG many years ago ... the Wigglytuff decks were pretty insane, never did figure out a stable way of beating them.
Unfortunately I have no idea how the meta-game unfolded in subsequent expansion packs; are any cards allowable in tournaments or only from the more recent expansions a la MTG?
After seeing this played on monday, I really would have to get new cards to build a deck with...
Yay! go to J and J's for cheap cards! Like extremely cheap! Just as cheap as getting japanese cards from Japan (maybe add a bit more for shipping).... but yeah! If you want to play competitively, I'd suggest only cards from the diamond/pearl/platinum or Heart Gold Soul Silver ones!
It
seems a few sets have been removed from the tourney-legal rotation including many D&P ones. Lux/chomp or w/e it's called looks to be still viable though.
Does J&J's also sell singles? Jumpluff + Pokemon Collector looks pretty crazy >_> wasn't able to find H&S or Rising Rivals boosters listed on their website, which was odd.
Edit: Pretty good meta discussion
here, but I don't understand much of it as I'm pretty clueless on the new tools/trainers/supports/etc.etc.etc.
I have cards, but I haven't played in a long time because I'm not good at it. I'd be willing to trade, though.
@Guest: all EX cards and before are not usable except for the list
here.
J and J does not sell single cards, but they do sell booster packs. Currently looking for more Squiretles and Blastoise from the HGSS unleashed set.
LuxChomp decks are very scary T_T only because they are basics of evolved pokemon and lvl X versions are extremely overpowered... but they're only going to last a few more years until they're banned due to release of newer cards like PKMN 5th GEN
If you do play, please bring cards and duel!
Unfortunately I have no cards anymore, but if you would be interested in splitting HGSS and PRR boxes I'd be up for that (diversification is key!).
Is it possible to do pokemon drafts like they do in MTG? If a few people are interested this would probably be the funnest way of getting everyone a lot of tourney-legal cards.
I recently bought quite a number of tins for myself. If anyone else is interested to purchase cards, let me know and we'll do it altogether! I'm currently making my water deck and only need to acquire cards from HGSS unelashed.
If you have extra energies I can buy off you, I can get a RR box and maybe some tins this evening and fashion a crude deck (if proxies are allowed I can also construct a tourney-worthy one too).
