Okay, since it's been requested that discussion be moved to the forum, let's not spam people anymore.
So...I think I'm doing a bad job already...forgive me >_<
Hmm, so $20.00 is too much? Alright, alright~ I admit it sounds kind of scary. But if we are REALLY going to do activities, we need to get money from somewhere right? But okay, I guess we shouldn't have that big of a jump. So maybe we can just keep it as it is and then charge extra for events if needed.
As for the activities, small turnouts are fine. It makes it easier to organize right? Less formal...etc. If we are persistent, hopefully people will start to come out to them more. And for it not catching interests of people, I'm hoping there are people who want to learn new things

It's not really for those who already know it, but want to learn about it.
And we don't HAVE to use my suggestions. If we have all sorts of events from different scopes, I'm sure members will find at least one they'd be interested in.
And an activity every two weeks isn't that bad (I hope?). If there are small turnouts, then it shouldn't be too hard to organize. I'd be happy do them~
I just thought that activities are more interesting than watching shows (At least for me...I'm all about doing something...).
But yeah, I guess I jumped too quickly into things. Back in high school we'd always go like "let's make sushi today" (it's actually really easy, I never use fish though) or "lets draw today" and we'd just do it, but I guess we're a small group so its easier.
Also, I wasn't trying to suggest scrapping general meetings. They're really good for discussion, but I think some people are getting the idea that the general meetings means we're actually doing something. So maybe we should mention that they're for discussion on the club.
But, the general meets ARE about doing things. We decide a large amount of policy there, and depending on the activity officer, we have games or other events in them as well.
yay no more email! finally a sane way of discussing things.
Even though im just a small fry activities officer, ill post my input as a fellow club member. bear with me, i dont even know who is who yet other than the Lyle and the kyle, although im confused now with the two meng (one has a bunny O_O) i see in the email list. who is go again x_x sorry im uber horrible with names.
Thank god outlook has an option to group emails by subject.
1. Clubs day.
Im not completely sure if i can come down <10-3pm> But i will see if i can manage to go missing for an hour or 2 from work halfway into the day, just for the hell of it. Probably friday only though. If i come down, ill be coming down with my big red Kamina cape! TTGL ftw! If we have any free stuff lying around that we can give out, I suggest having a raffle for everyone who signs up @ the mailling list. Winner gets an email that they won and can pick up at the next meeting. I assume there's gonna be paper for people to write their email address. Laptops playing anime also works, but i think its more fun having OP's and Ed's as opposed to have an anime running. That way we get music also.
2. Posters and membership cards - Nothing for me to say here
3. ps theres too many exec aliases and email shennanigans so im gonna completely ignore it.
4. Death note. Since we have a group going, lets have a fresh thread on the forum just dedicated to that. That way people can post and we have an approximate idea what is happening with it. What is happening with it again..i know vouchers exist and need to be validated. What time does the movie start?..nvm got it 9pm Subtract that by an hour and we have X
Lets meet up at 8 pm @ Y location < Fill in Y for me please> Maybe we can distribute the vouchers @ Y location, and go early and validate them?.
ps i will come to it, so ^_^
5. First meeting with new people! ( other than me x_x)
Here is a proposed agenda for the first meeting.
6 PM Everyone shows up
6.05 : Lets show an episode of Anime so everyone can get settled down and get a bearing on the atmosphere. I suggest comedy that will make everyone laugh. FMPF??
6:30 - All exec gets up on stage and does an intro. If you want i can make an awesome powerpoint presentation to add some kick!
Introduce the club, tell what the execs do, what are the plans for this year.
6.45 : Once that is done, I will have a game or activity < Yay my exec powers are kicking in> What is the game? You will just have to find out!
Once game is done, take a break and let people socialize~ talk chill wonder and debate about sailor moons? i dunno
Once that is done, we can show another episode of anime or be done for that meeting and head out for dinner maybe? lets see how it goes.
Sorry it seems like this has gotten pretty long but honestly the email is not a sane way to discuss things out. srsyl!
Also i propose an exec meeting. I have tonnes of other crap i can bring up, but honestly if i were to type it, the amount of typo i generate is going to frustrate the hell out of you.
I realized these decisions are not mine to make but atleast its out in the open. Feel free to oppose me or take side with me or be neutral. I usually prefer things out in the open and let em hang < no pun intended x_x>
PS i have events ideas i need to discuss which is why i need exec meeting, or do u prefer i just go ahead with whatever insanity im planning?
Lets rock
Inferno
Wops i forgot this topic
$20 Membership made me go O_O. As i read the first post, i read a lot of activities but i have no example to work with.
We need to decide on what the activities are going to be first and then charge them an arm for it. But $10 is good where it is for now, Imo. We can charge accordingly when the activity arrives
ps what do we get out of the membership?. Other than the card
Edit:
I just found this email..wee sorry
Activities
- Sushi Making and other cooking sessions (but we'll have to find a room for that)
- Costume Making tips
- Sewing skills
- Cosplay photo taking
- Anime Hairstyling
- Drawing anime styled
- Skit creating tips
- Karaoke / Name that Tune (which I believe have been done before)
.
K im gonna shatup for now but my head is literally exploding with ideas.
I havnt mentioned what i want out of the club? A lot XD
Im up on msn also. Nabil1122[@]hotmail[.]com
Membership (being $8), gets you access to club and volunteer shows and other events run by Ctrl-A where we feel like enforcing a membership requirement.
As I mentioned before, we shouldn't be jacking up the price at all; just charging for things where it's unrealistic to rely on the revenue gained from membership sales.
@Meng: No, don't worry, you're doing a fine job. Being overenthusiastic is a nice change from what the club has gotten used to. Most of the other exec are long-time club members, so we'll be able to keep you in check. Just don't make any rash executive decisions (so far the most rash unilateral decision we've had in the club is declaring war on WatsFic, which has resulted in a few of the most entertaining trips to Laser Quest I've been a part of). Part of taking on the job is learning, and if you don't make mistakes, you don't learn, desu ne?
Re: Membership fees: As I said on the exec list, I agree with Kyle on this one. We should charge where it's not economically feasible to fund it ourselves. For example, we could make Anime Name That Tune a free event, but sushi making would cost a bit for materials and stuff.
Re: Raffle: That raffle thing sounds like a great idea actually. How about something like "If you buy a membership on Clubs Day, you get entered into a raffle to win [something]"? We tend to get almost 0 membership sales on Clubs Day, but perhaps the idea of a raffle prize or something would help us out. Does anyone know what we have left in the Paradox Box? Also, Nabil, you really should be in on it...as Activities, it kinda *is* your job XD
oh theres no short coming of activities ideas in my head. its kindda exploding already.
Re. Raffle . lets not pressure them into membership @ clubs day. its kind of a turnoff spending before knowing what i am getting myself into. It doesn't need to be expensive or anything, maybe a manga or a dvd, i dunno whats left. We just need to make sure they come to first meeting,
(On a tangent that Lyle reminded me of)
We should be printing out a separate list for mailing list signups for clubs days.
And Nabil, if you need to discuss or flesh out ideas and we can't get an exec meeting worked out in time, the superexec list is as good as any.

No, it's no pressure, it's just "you can join now or you can join later, but if you want to be entered into the raffle, join now". That's all, no pressure
Mmm...I think we SHOULD be pressuring people into buying membership. Because the thing is, if people buy them first, they'll want to come out more to 'get their money's worth'. If not, then they'll be like: Yeah, I didn't pay for it yet, so I'm not going to go participate. It'll give more incentive for people to actually come out and do something.
So yeah, the raffle thing is a good idea. Do we have a prize?
The manga page thing sounds fun too (where there's a blank page and you have to fill it in).
Also, I'm REALLY REALLY pushing for activities this term. And I want there to be some set activites so we use them to lure in new members on clubs days. Since Nabil is in charge of activities, I want to hear your ideas. I'd really like some activities to be decided soooon~
On clubs days, I'd want to be able to say: "Hey! Look, we're watching this and this! And we're also doing this and that, and going out to do that. You'll also be able to learn this and this!"
I know some of you don't really like my ideas. But from what I know, the club is going into a sort of decline. So maybe we need to take a new approach. So please, please, lets just give some of these a try.
