Chris Hutten-Czapski, here. Ex-prez. This was my third in my stint of three terms as head of office making me the first person in a while to be prez for a solid calendar year. Woo! Once again I was trying my hardest to make the club as good as it could be, but working against me were the forces of evil (Concurrency, Numerical Computation, Japanese 201, and Databases). Yes, I'm in CS. That was my 3B term (well, those and Psych 101, but that course was easy). But, for those of you caring not about the prez and more about the term, I shall dispense with all else and get right to it.
This term we attempted to start an initiative of increased advertising that was (hopefully) going to bring in more members. To that effect we had a full colour poster for Show 1 (designed by Vanessa), and Karl made us a bunch of Huge Banners that were designed to slot into his self-constructed (not self-destructive, though close) Light Stand of Doom. [To see the posters, check Show 1's page]
All of our planning, blood, sweat, and tears were for nought as Clubs Days (a usually-fruitful attempt to attract new members) was scheduled for two weeks after our first, and as corresponding with tradition, free, Anime Show.
Even despite this massive scheduling hooplah, we managed to accrue a total of around 170 members this term (I think. I may have to update this number) mostly due to the heruculean efforts of our volunteers, especially those of and around Bessie, our Publicity Officer.
Our shows went on largely as planned, though we had to change both time and location for Show 3 to avoid both WFAC and ENGPlay.
We had a greater number of participants at all of this term's activities relative to last year, including the Karaoke, Cosplay, and Drawing contests. There was also evidence of a faction attempting to introduce more activities and social events including a Cosplay Workshop next term.
Jeremy's inter-show luncheons once again proved to be successful attracting between nine and twelve people each time. Some noise about the infrequency of these was mentioned at the last meeting and will probably be addressed in the following term. At the very worst, it might split the people going to each so that it'll be easier to get tables.
At the very end of the term, the forum was spammed. The incumbent Web Maintainer will have to repair or replace the forum software, hopefully not losing too much data.
Anyhoo, that's all I can think of right now about the term. As I remember (and am reminded) about things I may update this. The benefits of modern technology. Regardless, the people in charge were:
