Mo is hijacking the news-posting thing to remind you to fill out the End of term survey, if you haven't already. We appreciate any feedback! Also, before I post any pictures from events this term, let me know if you don't want your image and/or face to be seen (and I'll censor it with something)

First off, sorry for disapearing for a week there ^.^; A lot of things happened and now I'm posting a week late. Anyways, even though exams are but one day away (except if our on co-op, then it usually means your finally free of PDENG/PD etc...) CTRL-A is still alive! We don't die even if we're killed! But anyways, we got some events happening after exams but before next term so listen up! Probably I'll post something else closer to Fan Expo so this won't be my final Summer 2010 annoucement.

  • Cyberpunk Show - Saturday August 14th, SLC2109 3:00PM to 9:30PM - Asher the VP is not letting anime showings die on his watch! Come and watch a variety of cyberpunk anime after exams. If you don't know what cyberpunk is... well wikipedia it. You want me to give you a link? Fine! It's not like I'm doing it for you anonymous viewers or anything >_>. Ahh,but you might ask, what are we watching... well I'm not sure about the schedule, but it may be something like this!
    3:00 Bubblegum Crisis 1-3
    4:05 Intermission
    4:15 Kurau Phantom Memory 1-3
    5:20 Intermission
    5:30 Ergo Proxy 1-3
    6:35 Dinner
    7:15 Genocyber 1-3
    8:20 Intermission
    8:30 Ghost in the Shell
    9:50 End of Show
  • Fan Expo and Megumi Oogata Concert - Saturday August 28th, Metro Toronto Convention Center John Bassett Theatre at 7:30PM - Megumi Oogata the seiyuu and singer have decided to grace Toronto with her presence. Who is Megumi Oogata? Well she voiced some characters like Naoi from Angel Beats!, Yue from Card Captor Sakura, Rio from Full Moon wo Sagashite and *fanned*. Stop leaving out the most important and famous one! She voices Shinji in Evangelion!
Anyways, if you want to order concert tickets or find out what she's singing check out the website, http://cubeshops.com/ogata/index.html.
On another note, for my one man tsukkomi/boke act we may have some random table space at Fan Expo handing out fliers, so if we do, and if we do expect to hear about it here, come and check us out!

Well, I hope you enjoyed this news annoucement chock full with memes and other references! It was so fun I want to vomit!

Did anyone demand a sushi lunch? Yes? No? Well too bad/good, it's time for Karaoke and Sushi Lunch this week. Unfortunately, in return for having your Karaoke and Sushi at the approximately the same* time. Kyle will be unavailable for Office Hours. You can still go, but you'll have to find some way to have fun without Kyle!

*Same meaning within 48 hours

  • Meeting - Monday July 19th, 6PM at MC4063 - We'll be doing Show 4 Warp Up, Sushi Lunch/Karaoke prep, Show Dates for next term, and some kind of cyberpunk show? Anyways, same time, same place, so those of you who show up, do so.
  • Karaoke - Friday, July 23rd, 5PM at MC4058 - Karaoke time, bring your crazy flash-mob dance in the streets of Tokyo self and leave the self respect at home! (Unless said self respect causes you to act like a Tsundere). Remember, if you want to to sing a specific song or want to demand the group sing a song with you or something like that, make a request on the forums.
  • Sushi Lunch - Sunday July 25th at Ye's Sushi - Just like how dere usually follows tsun, the Sushi Lunch usually follows Karaoke. So if your coming, remember to RSVP somewhere, either at the meeting or emailing Mo at prez.at.ctrl-a.org.

On a side note, I'm coming to Waterloo this weekend so I'll see you there (I'm also bringing the Hobby Search Order goods as well, though really it's all just Weiss Schwarz cards and related Weiss Schwarz Card Accessories >_>)

It may be the last show of the term, but CTRL-A is far from over! As always, we still have Karaoke and possibly other events after this last show.

  • Office Hours - Thursday July 15th, 5:30PM at SLC2109 - Kyle's evil genius club didn't work out, possibly because the Enemy Club disagreed from a distance, who knows why (after all no one tells me this stuff out all the way here in Toronto, wherever that is). But be prepared for some kind of possibly radioactive superpowers or something of the sort if you want, otherwise just come and chill in the radioactive heat.
  • Show 4 - Friday July 16th, 4:30PM - 10:30PM and Saturday July 17th, 2:00PM - 9:00PM in MC2065 - The final show, let much befriending occur. The schedule (will eventually) be available on the forums. After not being at CTRL-A for basically a month, I'm running out of on-topic things to say here, so fill it in yourself!

    </fill_in_here_block>

Remember, request your favourite songs for Karaoke on July 23rd here. Also, on another note, Mel's Dinner our traditional after meeting food source is now seeking donations to help rebuild a better, stronger and faster Mel's Dinner. Of particular note, they are offering those who donate $35 a chance to write a message on one of the tiles and the club is definately thinking of getting at least one message there, find out more on the thread on the forums.

Finally, for all you fans of Josh's pictures, he has donated his entire AN photo collection to the CTRL-A Gallery. Check it out, and the rest of the event and other misc. pictures in the gallery. There's a link to your left under the name Gallery. Also, if any of you have any pictures of events, espesically the Movie Night, please send them to me.

Remember when I said I was going to post up extra information last week? I lied. Anyways, this week is not so exciting... except for the fact that we are showing anime at the Gig Theatre in Kitchener! Yes this is the same theatre that hosted WFAC (Waterloo Festival for Animated Cinema).

  • Meeting - Monday July 5th, 6:00PM at MC4063 - We'll most likely be discussing the movie night this meeting so come over if you want more details/want to contribute something.
  • Office Hours - Thursday July 8th, 5:30PM at SLC2109 - Kyle will be bringing a new board game so game and check out the latest in a never ending line of new board games!
  • Movie Night at the Gig - Saturady July 10th, 12:00PM - 8:00PM at the Gig Theatre (157 Ontario Street Noth, Kitchener) - A friend of the club is planning on renting out the Gig Theatre for a free CTRL-A show. Everyone is welcome, including club members, university students, members of the community and people planning on coming to Waterloo. We'll be showing a selection of Anime Movies, a detailed schedule will be forthcoming. The Theatre is in walking distance of the St. Charles iXpress stop and most likely groups of members will be going there together, yet another reason to stop by the meeting.
Also, if you happen to know anyone coming to Waterloo next term, now is a great opportunity to introduce them to CTRL-A.
  • Pokemon Tournament - Canceled - It's been postponed until at least next term.
  • Karaoke - You can request songs on the forums.

Yup, thats why the previous post was called Posters, because that poster was supposed to be up. Anyways, if any of you want your own posters for CTRL-A events on the site, feel free to send them to me at webmaster at ctrl-a.org
On other news, Jeremy is interested in starting up Project Nights to replace Kyle's Office Hours when he decides to stop holding them some time in future terms. You can read more about it on his thread.
