Jeopardy sure was fun, thanks to all the participants, hope you all had fun. We'll probably do Jeopardy again next term.
A reminder that CTRL-A will be going to Laser Quest this Friday July 3 starting at 6pm-8ish at Laser Quest in Kitchener (the new location of 1381 Victoria St. N, Unit 3, which is on the 15 bus route; Map). $20 for 3 games, $25 if you also want food (pizza). This is an open event, so bring all your friends!! For more info, or to sign up, email ctrl-a@ctrl-a.org!! Or, you can just show up at the event. So come out and have some fun!
Also, Show #4 is next Friday July 10th. We'll be holding a Writing Contest during the dinner break. Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to write a 100-200-word piece of anime-related poetry or prose (ie fanfiction). It can be from any fandom, any genre, and about anything you want. The only limits are the length, and since this is a public event, please keep it under PG-13. Submissions are due at the show, and will be judged during dinner break. Yes, there is a prize for the winner*.
Speaking of contests, reminder that the AMV / Art Contest is happening at Show 5 (July 17th). So if you haven't started yet, stop procrastinating! (Seriously, enter the AMV contest, you don't want James to win his own contest do you?) Entries are due at the show. Questions can be asked either on the forum or by email to ctrl-a@ctrl-a.org. Also, for the art contest, we'd need a hard copy of the picture. If you lack a printer, email us and we can print it for you.
Oh, and Happy Canada Day! and happy birthday to me

Also also, there will be a brief discussion meeting next Monday in MC 4063 at 6pm, where we'll be going over some policies and doing some planning. Prez Kyle is holidng office hours again on Tuesday from 4:15-6:30 in SLC 2133, watching Azumanga Daioh probably, and just hang out.
And just as an early heads-up, here are some events we'll be doing:
- "Best Of" and Warrior Weekend event - June 27th, start time TBA but possibly at 3pm. 'Best Of' show, plus caption contest, in the SLC multipurpose room, then we'll be doing a movie (Tekkonkinkreet) with Warrior Weekends after
- Laser Quest! - July 3rd, time TBA after we get booking, at Laser Quest in Kitchener (note that they're moving). We've challenged Watsfic, Watsoc, and Konja to a few games of Laser Quest! But it's an open event, so feel free to invite your friends. The cost would be around $20 for 2 games (subject to change, as we finalize some details)
I'll keep you updated as we get more details coming in, so keep an eye out for those. If you want Events at a glance, check the Events Calendar
- Meticulous MoWelcome to CTRL-A website Version... er... I'm not really sure.. but this is the 3rd major change of the appearance of the site since I joined the club (and since we moved to this new server in Summer 2006). Therefore, I'll call this Version 3.0 (even though Version 2.0 was mostly just a colour change...)
Anyway, the awesome design and graphics (including the new logo to match the one used for the forum) is done by Cassie, our webmaster for Winter 2009, and I coded the thing and put it up. I tried to make it browser and screen compatible and all that, but there are probably bugs here and there. If you find any, let me know! I've also starting using The Event Calendar, which you can see our upcoming events at a glance. Details for the events will be added as we get them.
In other news, next Monday June 8th, we have a fun activity meeting starting at 6pm in MC 4063 (we couldn't book our usual room). Kyle will be running a game of "who's that pokemon?" except with anime characters. ie He'll show you a silhouette of a character, and you have to guess who it is. So come out and have some fun, and as always, we'll probably go to Mel's for cheap burgers afterwards!
Prez Kyle is holding office hours every Tuesday from 4:15 - 6:30. If you need to talk to him, or just want to hang out and watch Azumanga Daioh, find him in SLC 2133.
Remember the club magazine (Anime Express) we published last term? (if you don't, look here) We're looking for submissions for another issue for this term! If you have anything you want to submit (art, reviews, articles, cosplay photos, anything CTRL-A or anime-related), please contact Liz (or contact us and we'll forward it to her).
Show 2 is next Friday, June 12th starting at 4:30pm in AL 116. The schedule is not finalized yet due to permissions being slow. But we will definately be showing more Ouran Host Club and Hajime no Ippo, as well as throwing in a few samplers like Kodocha. Yester-Term is on Saturday June 13th. Check this thread for details
Speaking of shows, at the last show (July 17th), we'll be having an AMV contest and an art contest, with fabulous prizes. So get started now! Don't know how to make an AMV? Check out James's tutorial.
